Roberto Cavalli, commissioned by Playboy, has redesigned the Bunny costume for the opening of the new Playboy Club at The Palms in Vegas.

And it's AWFUL!!

Hes made the tail smaller, elongated the ears, done away with the stylish French cuffs, the proper elegant bow-tie and collar, and ruined the sleek, sexy simplicity of the original bodices. His redesigns look like the cheap Bunny Girl imitation costumes available in any of a million fancy dress shops and online stores worldwide. The redesign must have taken Cavalli all of two minutes.

Playboy should say thanks, but no thanks and then ask for their money back. The company should ditch these abominations and simply use the original design that worked so well for... oh, 25 years!!

At least when Playboy has commissioned new Bunny costumes in the past, such as when they asked leading designers to reinterpret the costume for a feature in the October 1979 PLAYBOY; or the introduction of the Cabaret Bunny costume in the late seventies; or the leopard print costumes of the early eighties; or those variations introduced for the Empire Club; at least those designs were actually in the spirit of the sexy and professional quality of the original.

Why redesign a classic? It did not work for Coca-Cola. The Bunny costume needs NO update. Certainly not one as half-baked and half-hearted as this.

Nessun grazie Cavalli!!!
